Italy’s top judge praises strong ties with Algeria

Italian President of the Council of State Luigi Mattiolo praised the strong ties between Italy and Algeria, which are based on mutual respect.

In a speech at the closing ceremony of a twining project between the Ministry of Relations with Parliament and the Italian Council of State, Mattiolo praised the growth of cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, which are based on “mutual respect.” He also praised Algeria’s role in regional stability.

Italian Ambassador to Algeria Giovanni Pugliese said that “Italy sees Algeria as a pillar of regional stability and security in North Africa and the Sahel.” He recalled the long history of cooperation between the two countries, which is a driving force for achieving a future vision of Mediterranean integration.

Pugliese also said that “Algeria can rely on Italy, and on its role within the European Union, which has a partnership with Algeria.”

The ambassador described economic cooperation between the two countries as “strong,” praising its diversity and expansion into new sectors, such as the automotive sector. He said that this cooperation is helping to build a local Algerian industry that supports Algerian production.

Pugliese also reiterated Italy’s support for Algeria’s initiative to resolve the crisis in Niger through a political solution.
