Louisa Hanoune, Secretary-General of the Workers’ Party, praised on Friday the decision of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to regularize the status of Algerian youth abroad who are in precarious and illegal situations.
In her opening speech during the regular session of the party’s National Council, Hanoune considered President Tebboune’s call to be part of “reunification and addressing problems through political, social, and economic solutions.”
She also praised the new draft law on political parties, which she stated differs completely in methodology, vision, and political orientation, noting that it represents “progress and a correction toward consolidating political pluralism and includes acceptable standards and criteria.”
In this context, she mentioned her party’s decision to participate in the upcoming elections, where it “aspires to win a larger number of seats.”
In the same context, the leader of the Workers’ Party welcomed the decisions taken for the year 2025, considering them “economic and social gains,” including the extension of maternity leave, the increase in the guaranteed minimum wage, civil service salaries, retirement and unemployment benefits, as well as the increase in job positions in the health and education sectors.
The speaker also considered that the results following the meeting between the President of the Council of the Nation, Azzouz Nasri, and representatives of the transport unions were a source of relief for all parties, given the vitality and centrality of this sensitive sector.
