Athletics/Ostrava Meeting: Algerian Djamel Sedjati Wins 800m Race and Achieves Best World Result of the Year

Ostrava (Czech Republic) – Algerian runner Djamel Sedjati won the 800m race with a time of 1 minute 43 seconds and 51 milliseconds on Tuesday at the Ostrava Meeting (Czech Republic), achieving the best world result of the year.

Sedjati surpassed his French competitor Gabriel Tual (1 minute 45 seconds 79 milliseconds), while Swedish runner Andreas Kramer finished in third place with a time of 1 minute 45 seconds and 85 milliseconds.

Another Algerian athlete participating in the Ostrava meeting, Ali Gouaned, finished ninth with a time of 1 minute 48 seconds and 52 milliseconds.

This competition is part of the preparation program for Algerian athletes for upcoming international events, including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Both Sedjati and Gouaned have secured their qualification, alongside Slimane Moula (800m) and Yasser Triki (triple jump).
