World Record Broken by Algerian Athlete Ahmed Sami Neamaoui

Young Algerian weightlifter Ahmed Sami Neamaoui secured four medals, including three gold and one silver, and established a new world record at the World Youth-Junior Weightlifting Championships. The event took place in Sun City, South Africa, according to an announcement from the Algerian Federation of Bodybuilding, Fitness and Powerlifting on Saturday.
Neamaoui earned gold medals in the overall category, bench press, and deadlift. It was in the deadlift discipline where he set a new world record in the youth category. He also claimed a silver medal in the squat event, marking a successful international debut where he garnered four medals.
The federation described this achievement as an honorable result for Algerian sport, underscoring the promising potential within national weightlifting at the youth level. This participation follows a strategic decision from 2022 to separate youth category competitions from the senior World Championships, aiming to develop young talent and provide emerging athletes with opportunities to compete globally.
