Public Works Ministry Accelerates Key Project Completion in Algiers

Minister Abdelkader Djellaoui of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure presided over a working meeting at the ministry's headquarters on Wednesday, where he issued a series of directives aimed at accelerating project completion and enhancing overall performance across various sectors. A key focus of these instructions is the expedited execution of projects designed to alleviate traffic congestion within Algiers, alongside an emphasis on improving traffic flow and easing citizen movement through the timely commissioning of priority initiatives.
The meeting also addressed the national railway program, with the Minister instructing the completion of all necessary arrangements for initiating works on the Laghouat–Ghardaïa–El Menea section. This directive includes reinforcing meticulous monitoring of ongoing projects to ensure strict adherence to established timelines and technical standards. Furthermore, directives were issued for the acceleration of road network development, expansion, and maintenance projects, with specific priority given to segments identified as 'black spots' and major north-south arterial routes, including National Roads 1, 3, and 6. This is intended to enhance the readiness of the road network and improve user safety.
Additional instructions pertained to the supplementary development program for Djelfa and Tissemsilt provinces, urging a robust acceleration of projects within this framework, accompanied by regular and precise monitoring and strengthened coordination among relevant departments. Similar emphasis was placed on airport and port facilities, with directives to intensify monitoring and expedite work while upholding quality and safety standards. The ministry is also advancing efforts in digitalization and the purification of the investment code, aiming to streamline management and follow-up mechanisms and ensure the effective implementation of sector programs to achieve national developmental objectives.
