Hassi El Fehoul Activates New 40 MVA Electricity Station

The new 220/30 kilovolt mobile electrical station, with a capacity of 40 megavolt-amperes, officially entered service on Monday in Hassi El Fehoul. This activation is a crucial step in reordering power supply capabilities and raising the reliability of the electricity grid in the region. The project, initiated by the El Meniaa Distribution Directorate in coordination with Sonelgaz – Electricity Transmission and the electricity system operator, was attended by the Governor of El Meniaa Province and representatives from the municipal and electricity sectors.

The station's significance extends beyond its electrical capacity, as it is integrated into the national 220 kilovolt high-voltage electricity transmission network. This connection provides a robust power source, enhancing the functional coordination between the transmission network and distribution facilities. This integration is expected to directly improve service continuity by increasing network flexibility, reducing the impact of potential disturbances, and supplying additional capacity to meet the growing demand for electricity from both residents and economic activities.

In Hassi El Fehoul, the project's implications surpass mere public service improvement, given the area's agricultural and investment ventures. Stable electricity is vital for operating farming equipment, wells, and various production facilities, thereby offering investors greater scope to expand their activities and enhance output efficiency. The project involved installing 9.5 kilometers of overhead medium-voltage network and 350 meters of underground network, alongside equipping four 30 kilovolt electrical outlets, with a total cost of 65.7 million Algerian Dinars and a completion rate of 90 percent.

This operation is part of the El Meniaa Distribution Directorate’s investment program, which aims to support the urban, economic, and agricultural growth across the province. The nature of this project signifies an evolving approach to electricity grid management, moving from merely addressing existing imbalances to proactively anticipating the needs of areas experiencing demographic and investment expansion. With the Hassi El Fehoul station now operational, the region is better equipped to welcome new projects and sustain its agricultural and economic development, reinforcing energy availability as a key determinant for investment attractiveness and sustainable growth.
