2,000 Special Hajj Quotas Announced for Elderly Citizens

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has approved the allocation of an additional 2,000 Hajj quotas, specifically designated for Algerian citizens aged 70 years and older. This presidential initiative targets individuals who have registered for the Hajj lottery ten times without success in previous draws. The Ministry of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport announced that this decision underscores the President's commitment to providing a greater opportunity for this demographic to perform the Hajj rituals.

The criteria for benefiting from these exceptional quotas are specific and strictly enforced. Eligibility is reserved exclusively for citizens who have reached the age of 70 or more and have a record of ten unsuccessful registrations in the Hajj lottery, including the regular draw held on August 15, 2026, for the 1448H/2027 Hajj season. Any applicant not meeting both the age and prior registration requirements will not be considered for this special allocation.

A special lottery for the beneficiaries of these 2,000 additional quotas is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026. This draw will take place at provincial headquarters or other suitable locations chosen by local authorities, with the presence of the concerned individuals or their representatives. The Ministry emphasized that the entire process is designed to ensure fairness and adherence to the specified conditions, ensuring that the additional quotas reach their intended elderly recipients.
