International Handicrafts Exhibition Returns to Algiers in December 2026

The Ministry of Tourism and Traditional Industries announced that the 27th International Handicrafts Exhibition will be held from December 3 to 7, 2026, at the Exhibition Palace in Pins Maritimes, Algiers. This annual event is recognized as a significant international platform for Algeria, showcasing the authenticity of the nation's cultural, civilizational, and artistic heritage. It aligns with the country's higher authorities' vision to value, preserve, and promote this rich legacy.

Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industries, Houria Meddahi, emphasized the importance of ensuring the exhibition's success and enhancing its economic dimension. The event aims to be a prominent interface for Algerian cultural and artistic heritage, with plans to program diverse activities involving various sector stakeholders. Discussions are also underway to organize meetings and forums to highlight Algeria's cultural and artistic assets and the state's efforts in developing the traditional industries sector through support mechanisms for artisans.

To bolster support for artisans, new training programs, particularly in digitization, and the creation of a digital platform to list and promote traditional craft products nationwide, focusing on crafts threatened with extinction, have been initiated. The Minister also called for continued provision of exhibition spaces for artisans at sector-organized events, along with promotional activities to aid product marketing and sales. Furthermore, the exhibition will feature incentive competitions, including awards for the best artisan in traditional Algerian dress, the best promotional video, the best photographer promoting traditional industries, and the best startup contributing to digital sales of Algerian traditional products, acknowledging the role of Algerian women, especially rural women, in local development.
