New Buses Enhance Urban Mobility Across Algerian Wilayas

A major national program, initiated following a decision by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is actively renewing Algeria's public transport fleet with a target of 10,000 new buses. This ongoing effort, supervised by the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Said Sayoud, aims to significantly enhance urban and semi-urban mobility across the country. The initiative focuses on delivering modern, standard-compliant vehicles to improve transport conditions and elevate the quality of service available to citizens.

Following an initial phase that saw new buses delivered to the wilayas of Algiers, Oran, Constantine, and Annaba, the program is currently expanding its reach. Sixteen additional wilayas are now receiving modern vehicles as part of this comprehensive upgrade. These wilayas include Chlef, Bouira, Tlemcen, Tizi Ouzou, Saïda, Sidi Bel Abbès, Médéa, Mascara, Boumerdès, Aïn Defla, Batna, Biskra, Djelfa, Skikda, El Tarf, and El Oued.

As part of the current distribution efforts, the Tirsam complex is supplying 165 new buses to six of these benefiting wilayas. Specifically, Batna, Biskra, and Skikda are each receiving 35 buses, while El Tarf, Djelfa, and El Oued are each allocated 20 buses. This targeted distribution exemplifies the broader national commitment to update the public transport fleet, ensuring that transport lines are reinforced with contemporary vehicles that effectively meet the diverse needs of the population.
