Mongolia Hosts Algerian Official at Anti-Desertification Summit

Djamel Touahria, Director General of Forests for Algeria, attended the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The meeting took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from August 24 to August 26. This participation marks Algeria's presence at an international forum dedicated to addressing a critical environmental challenge.

The attendance by the Director General of Forests underscores Algeria's ongoing engagement with international efforts to tackle desertification. The UNCCD COP17 serves as a key platform for member states to discuss strategies and coordinate actions against land degradation. Algeria's representation at this conference reflects its commitment to contributing to global environmental governance and sustainable land management practices.
