Modern Bus Fleet Renewal Benefits 16 Algerian Wilayas

The Algerian Ministry of Interior and Transport has commenced the second phase of its comprehensive program to strengthen and renew the urban and suburban transport fleet. This initiative involves the distribution of new, modern buses, designed to meet current standards and improve both transport conditions and the overall quality of service provided to citizens across the country.

The current phase specifically targets 16 wilayas, including Chlef, Bouira, Tlemcen, Tizi Ouzou, Saïda, Sidi Bel Abbès, Médéa, Mascara, Boumerdes, Aïn Defla, Batna, Biskra, Djelfa, Skikda, El Tarf, and El Oued. This follows an initial phase which successfully covered four wilayas: Algiers, Oran, Constantine, and Annaba, signifying a broader expansion of the modernization efforts. The new vehicles are intended for distribution to transport operators, with a simultaneous plan to progressively withdraw older buses that have exceeded 30 years of service.

This nationwide operation is a direct implementation of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's decision to renew the national transport fleet with a target of 10,000 new buses. The entire process is under the direct supervision and monitoring of the Minister of Interior, underscoring the government's commitment to modernizing public infrastructure and enhancing citizen comfort.
