Public Water Service Across Algeria Receives 23 Billion DA Allocation

Algerian public authorities have allocated a financial package of 23 billion DA for a new emergency program to strengthen and improve the public water service across various wilayas of the country. This allocation was announced in a Ministry of Hydraulics communiqué on Monday, emphasizing the government's commitment to national water security and infrastructure development.

The emergency program is designed to enhance intervention and maintenance capabilities, ensuring the permanent availability of hydraulic infrastructure. This includes the acquisition of diverse electromechanical equipment, generators, hydraulic pumps, technical intervention and maintenance tools, pumping stations, and tank trucks. During a working meeting presided over by Minister of Hydraulics Lounès Bouzegza, instructions were given to accelerate the program's implementation, adhere to set deadlines, and expedite the realization of scheduled operations on the ground.

Furthermore, the Minister stressed the importance of strengthening coordination among various services, establishments, and organizations. This coordination aims to direct resources and equipment towards actual priorities, ensure rapid fault resolution, and improve responsiveness to citizen concerns, thereby guaranteeing the continuity of public water service and water security throughout Algeria. The meeting also addressed the progress of major structural and strategic projects within the hydraulic sector, including preparations for long-distance connections from seawater desalination plants in Tlemcen, Mostaganem, and Chlef, alongside other key initiatives to secure potable water supply nationwide.
