Civil Protection Extinguishes Most Wildfires, President Ensures Victim Care

Algerian Civil Protection teams have achieved significant progress in controlling wildfires across several provinces, successfully extinguishing 118 out of 123 fires recorded within a 24-hour period. Efforts are actively continuing to contain the remaining five blazes, specifically two in Jijel, two in Sétif, and one in Tébessa. Despite challenging weather conditions that previously hindered aerial operations, air intervention has resumed, utilizing firefighting aircraft, including two AT802 planes deployed in Jijel. In areas like Taxenna municipality in Jijel, where families were preventatively evacuated, the danger has been averted, allowing residents to return safely to their homes.

Underscoring the government's direct engagement, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, acting under the delegation of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, conducted on-site visits to Jijel province to assess the situation following the fires and monitor intervention operations. Upon his return, the Prime Minister visited the Dr. Said-Chibane Hospital in Zeralda, Algiers, to personally oversee the medical care for those injured and evacuated from the affected regions. During these visits, Mr. Ghrieb conveyed President Tebboune's close attention to the injured, emphasizing the critical importance of optimal care and the mobilization of all necessary medical resources to ensure appropriate treatment and rigorous follow-up by specialized teams.

The Prime Minister, on behalf of the President, government, and the Algerian people, extended sincere condolences to the families of victims and expressed wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured, also participating in the funerals of those who perished. This high-level engagement is complemented by a widespread wave of national solidarity, with youth organizations and volunteer clubs actively participating in providing aid to those affected. The government's comprehensive response demonstrates a unified national effort to manage the disaster and provide compassionate support to its citizens.
