The Algerian national football team has climbed five places in the FIFA rankings for September, now standing at 41st globally. This advancement solidifies Algeria’s position on the world football stage after a strong performance in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Algeria moved up to 41st in the world rankings after securing two victories against Equatorial Guinea (2-0) and Liberia (3-0) in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, contributing to this significant rise. Regionally, the team is now ranked seventh in Africa and fourth in the Arab world.

The new rankings also saw progress for other teams such as Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Tunisia, while Senegal dropped two places. On the international stage, Argentina maintained its top position despite a loss to Colombia and a win over Chile, with France remaining in second place and Spain, the Euro 2024 champions, in third.

The top ten rankings remained unchanged compared to the previous month. England held onto fourth place, followed by Brazil (5), Belgium (6), the Netherlands (7), Portugal (8), Colombia (9), and Italy (10).
