Qatari Amir Advocates De-escalation and Humanitarian Aid in Gaza During Meeting with Blinken

In a recent meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed the evolving situation in Palestinian territories and its humanitarian repercussions.

The Qatari Amir emphasized the need for concerted efforts to de-escalate the situation and establish safe passages in Gaza for humanitarian aid, with the aim of preventing regional violence from escalating. Sheikh Tamim also reiterated Qatar’s unwavering stance against the targeting of civilians.

On the other hand, Blinken expressed his appreciation for Doha’s efforts in securing the release of hostages held by the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas.

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, underscored the current priority of ending the conflict in Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need. He expressed Qatar’s commitment to working with partners to open a humanitarian corridor for aid to reach Gaza.

Sheikh Mohammed stated that the only guarantee for achieving peace is to intensify efforts through diplomatic channels, emphasizing the dire consequences of expanding the conflict’s scope.

He also committed to doing everything possible to secure the release of hostages in Gaza.

Regarding the presence of Hamas leaders in Doha, Sheikh Mohammed explained that the political office in the Qatari capital is used for communication with Hamas and promoting peace and tranquility.

In line with Qatar’s position, the Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al-Ansari, stressed the importance of avoiding collective punishment for the people in Gaza. He urged urgent action to halt the bloodshed in Gaza.
