Abdelkader Bouazzara Appointed as New Director of Algeria’s National Opera

In a significant cultural shift, Algeria’s Minister of Culture and Arts, Souria Moulouji, has appointed Abdelkader Bouazzara as the new Director General of the Algeria National Opera. He succeeds Fatima Zahra Namous Senoussi, who has retired from the role, Abdelkader Bouazzara Algeria National Opera Director.

Moulouji urged the newly appointed director to continue efforts in preserving and enhancing Algeria’s artistic heritage. The minister emphasized the importance of elevating Algeria’s cultural presence both nationally and internationally, positioning it as a beacon of cultural radiance.

The minister also commended the significant contributions made by Fatima Zahra Namous in elevating the Algerian artistic legacy, both within and outside the country. On this occasion, Moulouji encouraged Namous to continue her artistic productions, particularly in choreography and training.

Abdelkader Bouazzara, the new director, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously held positions as the director of the National Symphony Orchestra and the National Higher Institute of Music. He is currently the curator of the International Cultural Festival of Symphonic Music.
