In a significant development, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission receives a proposal outlining reforms in Algeria. Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, reaffirms Moscow’s unwavering support for Algeria in its struggle against French colonization for freedom and independence.
Lavrov, speaking in the inaugural episode of the program “Russia Bridges – The Arab World” on Russia Today, emphasized, “It is enough to say that we recognized the Algerian Republic about three months before its official declaration. We acknowledged this government as a new one immediately after the Algerians ended colonial rule in March 1962. In July of the same year, Algeria was officially declared an independent, democratic, and people’s republic.”
The head of Russian diplomacy highlighted that since Algeria’s independence, Russia has actively worked towards establishing close relations with the country across all domains.
