In a statement released on Saturday, ANIE clarified that the ban is enacted under Presidential Decree No. 26-145, dated April 4, 2026. This decree formally convenes the electorate to elect members of the People's National Assembly on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

The Authority further cited Article 81 of Ordinance No. 21-01, dated March 10, 2021, which outlines the amended and supplemented organic law concerning the electoral system. This legal framework underpins the decision to prohibit any form of voter intention surveys or opinion poll dissemination.

For the Algerian national community residing abroad, the ban on publishing and broadcasting opinion polls began on Saturday, June 27, 2026. For electoral districts within national territory, the prohibition will commence on Monday, June 29, 2026, and will remain in effect until the conclusion of polling day.
