Over 31 Kilograms of Cocaine Seized by Army in Tamanrasset

Algerian army units have successfully dismantled a drug trafficking ring, leading to the seizure of more than 31 kilograms of cocaine. The operation, which took place in Tamanrasset, located in the country's far south, also resulted in the arrest of three individuals suspected of involvement in the network. Authorities have since initiated an investigation to identify further members of the gang and ascertain the full extent of its operations.

The substantial quantity of cocaine was discovered meticulously hidden within a tourist vehicle, which was being transported on a truck under the guise of mechanical failure. The Algerian Ministry of National Defense released a statement affirming that this action aligns with directives from the higher command of the Algerian army. These directives emphasize heightened vigilance and reinforced border surveillance, alongside continuous efforts to counter smuggling gangs and drug traffickers.

The Ministry's statement underscored that this particular operation reaffirms the comprehensive readiness of the National Army's various components to thwart all attempts that jeopardize the safety and security of citizens or seek to inundate the nation with illicit drugs. This success occurs amidst intensified efforts by Algerian authorities to combat drug smuggling and trafficking organizations, which have recently led to the apprehension of dozens of individuals implicated in both local and international networks.
