Algiers Holds Top French Air Travel Destination Status

Algiers secured its position as the foremost air travel destination from France for flight-only tickets during July 2026. This assessment, presented in the July 2026 barometer published by French travel agencies Bourse des Voyages and Bourse des Vols and cited by Air Journal on August 15, indicates that Algiers International Airport remained the most booked international destination departing from France.

The sustained demand for flights to Algeria is attributed primarily to the frequent travel patterns of the Algerian diaspora residing in France. This consistent activity from members of the diaspora supported Algiers' leading status, demonstrating a quasi-stability in demand, with only a marginal decrease of one percent. The continuous flow of travelers underscores the strong affinity and connectivity between France and Algeria.

In contrast to Algiers' steady performance, other destinations experienced notable shifts in demand. La Réunion and Guadeloupe, for example, registered significant decreases of 65 percent and 72 percent, respectively, in flight-only bookings from France. While Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, saw a strong increase of 13 percent, Algiers maintained its overall lead among the destinations studied, reflecting its enduring appeal and the consistent travel patterns of its diaspora.
