Direct Flights Between Algiers and New Delhi Set for October

The Indian Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, confirmed the upcoming launch of direct air services between Algiers and New Delhi by Air Algérie, expected to commence in October. While Air Algérie's preliminary program included this route, Aeroroutes specifies the first departure as October 25, 2026. The flight, designated AH3104, is scheduled to depart Algiers at 10:00 and arrive in India at 23:00 local time.

Three weekly flights are planned for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The return journey will depart Delhi at 00:30, arriving in Algiers at 06:05. These long-haul rotations will be operated by Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. Ambassador Kulkarni emphasized that this aerial connection extends beyond commercial aspects, playing a significant role in facilitating traveler movement, supporting tourism, and accelerating cross-investments and exchanges between the two nations.

The direct link is poised to enhance business ties, saving crucial time for operators in both countries. India's approach to its relationship with Algeria includes its role in the Global South and dialogue within the African Union, highlighted by the relaunch of the India-Africa Forum, where Algeria holds a prominent position. Key economic sectors identified for promising collaboration include agricultural equipment, particularly tractors, pharmaceuticals, and automotive manufacturing, aiming to establish reliable and sustainable supply chains.

This complementarity is already evident in areas such as Algerian fertilizers, which attract New Delhi's attention amid global market tensions. Additionally, the Indian group Jindal SAW has expressed its ambition to develop a major steel complex in Algeria. Ambassador Kulkarni detailed India's economic transformation, noting its status as a dynamic major economy with over 7.5% growth and a nominal GDP exceeding $4 trillion, presenting significant partnership opportunities for friendly nations like Algeria.
