Sinotruk Identifies Batna’s Tirsam as Key Global Hub

Chinese heavy vehicle leader Sinotruk is intensifying its focus on the Tirsam factory in Batna, with its CEO Liu Zhengtao stating the facility is poised to become one of the group's most important installations outside of China. This commitment, conveyed during a visit to Batna, underscores the perceived capabilities of the Algerian partner and the collaboration's importance in delivering high-quality products and services to meet the demands of the Algerian market. The visit forms part of Tirsam's strategic partnership initiatives, marking a significant phase for the Algerian industrial group.
The strengthened partnership coincides with two major achievements at the Tirsam factory: the production of its 3,000th heavy vehicle and the launch of a new welding line for heavy vehicles. These initiatives represent a crucial step for developing Algeria's manufacturing ecosystem, enhancing technical and industrial capacities, and promoting the transfer of technology and expertise. Tirsam has indicated these developments align with the President's program aimed at increasing national integration rates and fostering local subcontracting.
Samir Maâlla, a senior official at Tirsam, affirmed that these accomplishments extend beyond mere production figures, reflecting a comprehensive industrial vision built on investment, technology transfer, skills development, stronger local integration, and elevated national manufacturing standards. The partnership is expected to bolster the presence of both Sinotruk and Tirsam brands within the Algerian market, address the needs of the transport and logistics sectors, and facilitate the expansion of activities into the regional market to stimulate exports.
Tirsam aims to establish an advanced and sustainable industrial base, transforming international collaborations into tangible projects that deliver substantial added value to the national economy. The company plans to transition from semi-knocked down (SKD) assembly to full production with 40% local integration by the first half of 2026. This strategy leverages licenses acquired from various operators, including Chinese, Indian, and Turkish sources for different vehicle segments, with Sinotruk specifically providing licenses for heavy trucks.
