Laghouat-Ghardaïa-El Menea Railway Project Fast-Tracked

Abdelkader Djellaoui, the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, has issued instructions to expedite the launch of the Laghouat-Ghardaïa-El Menea railway section. The directive mandates the completion of all necessary arrangements to begin construction. These instructions were given during a working meeting focused on strategic files within the public works and basic infrastructure sectors, attended by central and sectoral officials.

Regarding the national railway program, Minister Djellaoui stressed the importance of strengthening coordination and on-site monitoring for various projects. He further instructed the acceleration of implementation rates while adhering to specified timelines and adopted technical standards. These measures are designed to ensure efficient progress and timely completion of key infrastructure initiatives.

The minister's broader directives also encompassed accelerating the development, expansion, and maintenance of the road network, with a particular focus on critical sections and major North-South axes, including National Roads 1, 3, and 6. Additionally, instructions were given to advance projects aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in Algiers and to enhance the monitoring and acceleration of airport and port infrastructure projects. Efforts to digitalize management mechanisms and streamline the investment portfolio were also highlighted to improve administrative performance and decision-making processes.
