King Abdulaziz Quran Competition Sees Algerian Success
Algeria demonstrated its excellence on the international stage by securing three distinctions, including two first-place finishes, at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition held in Mecca. Following their notable achievement, Dr. Youcef Belmehdi, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, extended a special reception and honor to the Algerian delegation upon their return to the homeland.
The successful delegation included Safaa Iman Ben Yahya, who achieved first place in the women's section for full Quran memorization with excellent performance and tajweed. Joumana Chraytia also secured a first-place distinction in the category of full Quran memorization with excellent performance and tajweed, incorporating the seven canonical readings via the Shatibiyyah method, both narratively and intellectually. Additionally, Zakaria Fettal earned second place in the branch for full Quran memorization with excellent performance, tajweed, and interpretation. Sheikh Reda Kara also represented Algeria as an international judge on the competition's judging panel.
Minister Belmehdi lauded this distinguished accomplishment, emphasizing that it reflected the high level achieved by the Algerian Quranic school. He underscored that these results are a testament to the quality of Quranic education within Algeria and the diligent efforts invested in Quran memorization and supporting its practitioners. The Minister also highlighted the state's dedicated care for Quran memorizers, encouraging and supporting their pursuit of excellence in international forums.
Describing the laureates as "ambassadors of the Quran and national identity," Minister Belmehdi affirmed that their achievements represent a source of national pride for Algeria. The reception and honoring ceremony held particular significance, coinciding with the celebration of the Prophet's birthday (Mawlid Nabawi Shareef), further enriching the meaning of this national and international success.
