Border Region Youth Camp Promotes Innovation in Algiers

A high-level dialogue session, titled "Youth and Entrepreneurship: System and Future Prospects," recently took place at the "Sidi Abdellah" University Pole in Algiers. This event emphasized the pivotal role of young entrepreneurs in shaping an innovation-based economy for Algeria. Concurrently, the National Summer Entrepreneurship Camp for youth from border regions is ongoing at the same university hub, gathering 250 young men and women until August 23, 2026.
These initiatives are organized by the Ministry of Youth, in partnership with the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises, with contributions from the National Agency for Entrepreneurship Support and Development (NESDA), the High Council for Youth, and the National Office of University Services. The camp's program integrates interactive training workshops focused on developing entrepreneurial skills, converting ideas into viable projects, and understanding company creation, development, funding, and support mechanisms. Institutional dialogue sessions are also a core component, fostering collaboration between various ministry officials.
Discussions during the dialogue session explored the current state and future prospects of entrepreneurship in Algeria, particularly highlighting the promotion of value-added projects and strengthening support, funding, and accompaniment for young innovators. Key topics included the self-entrepreneur card, its mechanisms, and the advantages it offers to facilitate youth entry into economic activity and foster professional independence. Both the dialogue and the camp underscore the strategic importance of innovation as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation, affirming youth not merely as beneficiaries, but as essential partners in investing in Algeria's future.
