Efficiency, Cooperation Key to Energy Sector Development

Ministers Mohammed Arkab, Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, and Murad Agal, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, recently led coordination meetings to review and advance Algeria's energy sector strategies. The sessions at the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies addressed critical files, including the management of major national gas energy consumers and preparations for the 2026-2027 social re-entry. These discussions underscore ongoing efforts to strengthen sector activities and foster greater coordination among relevant bodies.
A key focus of the meetings was the strategic management of gas energy demand, identified as a developmental priority contributing to more effective public energy policies and rationalized consumption. Ministers also explored avenues to enhance energy efficiency indicators and ensure the optimal utilization of national energy resources. These measures are designed to align with sustainable economic and social development objectives and bolster Algeria's energy security in the medium and long term.
Furthermore, the evaluation meetings oversaw progress on external partnership and cooperation files, with specific discussions held regarding collaborations with Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, and Benin. Minister Agal issued directives to expedite the processing of these files, reinforce coordination among concerned structures, and ensure precise and regular follow-up on various projects. This commitment aims to achieve agreed-upon goals, serve mutual interests, and expand the horizons of cooperation within the energy and renewable energies sector.
