Sonatrach, Sinopec Partner on Hydrocarbon Development

Algerian energy group Sonatrach and Chinese company Sinopec recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Beijing. The signing took place on the sidelines of a visit to China by Sonatrach's President and CEO, Nour Eddine Daoudi, accompanied by a high-level delegation. This agreement seeks to explore new opportunities for cooperation and partnership throughout the hydrocarbon value chain, building upon a previous MoU signed between the two entities in 2024.

The scope of cooperation outlined in the new protocol extends to various critical areas within the energy sector. These include projects related to conventional and non-conventional hydrocarbons, the development of complex reservoirs, and key petrochemical and helium industries. Additionally, the agreement covers collaboration in petroleum engineering, renewable energies and associated new technologies, and the advancement of professional competencies.

This initiative is designed to consolidate the established relations between Sonatrach and Sinopec, further expanding their collaborative efforts. By exploring new partnership opportunities across the entire hydrocarbon value chain, the agreement aims to identify areas of mutual interest and facilitate concrete actions that benefit both companies.
