Montreal-Algiers Direct Route: Air Algérie Now Only Carrier

Air Algérie has become the sole airline offering direct flights between Montreal and Algiers, following Air Canada's decision to extend the suspension of its service on this transatlantic route. The Canadian carrier has removed the Montreal-Algiers line from its provisional program for summer 2027, solidifying Air Algérie's exclusive direct presence for travelers connecting the two countries.

Air Canada had previously announced a temporary suspension of the Montreal-Algiers route for summer 2026. At that time, the airline indicated a planned resumption of operations in 2027. However, according to recent updates from specialized aviation media, Air Canada has revised its plans, formally withdrawing the previously submitted schedule requests for the Montreal-Algiers service, which had been set to resume in June 2027 with four weekly flights operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

This development means that scheduled direct flights from Montreal to Algiers, which were anticipated to recommence in 2027 by Air Canada, are no longer part of its operational program. Consequently, Air Algérie is now the only airline providing direct air links between Canada and Algeria, a significant advantage for the national flag carrier. While passengers can still opt for connecting flights, particularly via European hubs, Air Algérie's position as the exclusive direct operator simplifies travel for many.
