Benzema Extends Message of Support to Algeria After Wildfires

Karim Benzema, the renowned Al-Hilal striker and former Real Madrid player, has conveyed a message of support and solidarity to the Algerian people. This gesture follows widespread wildfires that have impacted several regions of the country in recent days, particularly in Kabylie and the eastern provinces. The fires resulted in fatalities, injuries, and substantial destruction to forests, with hundreds of hectares consumed by flames across areas such as Tizi Ouzou, Béjaïa, Skikda, and Jijel.

Through his social media accounts, Benzema expressed deep empathy, stating, "All my thoughts are with the victims of the fires sweeping Algeria, their families, the injured, and all those going through this ordeal." He further extended his commendation to the emergency services, adding, "All my courage to the firefighters, the rescue workers, and all those who rushed to Algeria's aid. All my support and solidarity are with the Algerian people."

The wildfires prompted a broad movement of solidarity throughout Algeria, with some residents reportedly seeking refuge on beaches to escape the flames. The Algerian Interior Ministry officially reported 12 fatalities due to the incidents. In response to the crisis, Algerian authorities attributed the rapid spread of the fires to high temperatures and strong winds, which intensified the challenge for extinguishing operations and hampered aerial efforts.
