North African Heavyweights Secure Volleyball Quarter-final Berth

The Algerian national volleyball team has successfully qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2026 CAVB Women's African Nations Volleyball Championship. The team secured their spot following a commanding 3-0 victory over Senegal in the Round of 16. The match, played at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi, saw Algeria deliver a disciplined exhibition, sweeping their opponents with set scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-16.

Algeria's head coach, Sid Ali Benkourbi, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, noting their relentless intensity. The former champions dictated play from the opening whistle, showcasing their title credentials throughout the encounter. This dominant display ensured a straight-sets win, underlining their strong presence in the tournament.

As North African heavyweights in the sport, Algeria's advancement marks a significant achievement in the continental championship. Their victory places them among other strong contenders, including host nation Kenya's Malkia Strikers, whom they are slated to face in the quarter-finals. The upcoming match will further test Algeria's capabilities as they continue their campaign for the championship title.
