Paralympic Games in Paris: President Honors Algerian Champions

Algiers – On Monday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune honored the athletes who proudly represented Algeria at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games during a ceremony at the El Mouradia Presidential Palace.

The event was attended by senior state officials, the athletes’ families, and their coaching teams. The Algerian athletes who won medals at the Paralympic Games were awarded certificates of appreciation and financial rewards, with similar recognition given to their coaches. The ceremony concluded with a commemorative photo of the medalists with the President.

Algeria achieved an impressive total of 11 medals at the 17th edition of the Paralympic Games, including 6 gold and 5 bronze.

The gold medalists were:

  • Iskander Djamil Othmani (100m and 400m/T13)
  • Safia Djelal (shot put/F57)
  • Nassima Saifi (discus throw/F57)
  • Abdelkader Bouamer (judo, -60kg, J1)
  • Ibrahim Kendouz (200m para canoe kayak / KL3)

The five bronze medals were won by:

  • Nassima Saifi (shot put/F57)
  • Ahmed Mehidib (club throw/F32)
  • Linda Hamri (long jump/F12)
  • Ishak Ould Kouider (judo, -60kg/D2)
  • Houssem Bateer (powerlifting, 65kg)

With a delegation of 26 athletes (18 men and 8 women), Algeria finished the Paralympic Games ranked 25th out of 186 participating nations, topping the leaderboard among Arab and African countries.
