Algiers – On Friday evening, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, presided over a reception at the National Army Club in Algiers. The event, held in honor of active and retired senior officers from the National People’s Army, was attended by numerous high-ranking state officials, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.
The Ministry’s statement explained that this reception, held on November 1, 2024, was part of the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the November 1, 1954 Revolution. President Tebboune’s presence underscored Algeria’s commitment to honoring its historic milestones and paying homage to the martyrs who sacrificed for the nation’s independence.
President Tebboune was welcomed at the National Army Club entrance by Lieutenant General Saïd Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army. The event celebrated the enduring traditions of the National People’s Army, which upholds and cherishes Algeria’s historical legacy.
In attendance were key government figures, including the President of the Council of the Nation, the President of the Constitutional Court, the Prime Minister, members of the government, and military leaders such as the Commander of the Republican Guard and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense. Commanders of military branches, heads of central departments within the Ministry of National Defense, and several national dignitaries, veterans, and high-ranking state officials also participated in the occasion.
The ceremony began with the performance of Algeria’s national anthem by the Republican Guard’s musical ensemble, followed by a documentary screening titled “And It Was Truly Our Duty,” produced by the Directorate of Information and Communication for the National People’s Army. The documentary illustrated key moments from Algeria’s history and the values upheld by its armed forces.
An aerial display of illuminated drones followed, creating vibrant formations symbolizing various aspects of Algeria’s history and national pride. The evening concluded with an impressive fireworks display, adding a festive close to the memorable occasion.
