A Palestinian journalist has been killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll of journalists killed in the conflict to 13.

Mohammed Balousseh, a reporter for the Palestine al-Yawm news channel, was killed when Israeli warplanes struck his home in the al-Saftawi area of northern Gaza on Tuesday.

The airstrikes are part of an ongoing Israeli military operation against the militant group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip.

The conflict began on October 7, when Hamas launched a series of rocket attacks on Israel in response to Israeli raids on the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.

Israel responded with airstrikes on Gaza, killing more than 2,700 Palestinians, including at least 750 children.

The death of Balousseh is a reminder of the dangers faced by journalists reporting on conflict zones.
