Algeria Launches Comprehensive National Strategy to Monitor Imported Products and Protect Public Health
Algeria has officially adopted a comprehensive and integrated national strategy for monitoring imported products across its borders, focusing on a proactive, multi-sector coordination approach to strengthen health vigilance and safeguard citizens.
The new framework, implemented under direct instructions from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aims to reinforce the national oversight system and protect public health. A high-level coordination meeting was held today at the Ministry of Health headquarters, bringing together senior officials from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, alongside experts from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences and Criminology of the National Gendarmerie, the Institut Pasteur of Algeria, and the National Center of Toxicology.
The strategy centers on unifying monitoring and analysis procedures in accordance with approved national and international standards, ensuring the health and safety of citizens while strengthening national health security.
The meeting addressed the definition of intervention areas for each relevant sector involved in border import controls, guaranteeing that all imported goods comply fully with applicable health and regulatory standards.
