Wilayas Launch National Drain Cleaning for Autumn

Across all wilayas, a national proactive campaign has begun to maintain and clean sewerage networks and storm drains. This initiative, implemented under the instructions of Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning, Said Sayoud, aims to prepare for the anticipated weather fluctuations during the autumn season. It enhances readiness and reduces the risks of flooding caused by blocked drainage systems.

The campaign involves intensive field interventions, directly supervised and monitored by the walis of the Republic, with participation from relevant services and institutions. Operations include thoroughly cleaning and clearing sewerage networks and drains, removing accumulated soil, sediment, and debris that could impede water flow. Additionally, maintenance of storm drains is being carried out to ensure their capacity for expected rainfall.

These interventions also focus on addressing identified "black spots" and rectifying any recorded deficiencies, alongside intensifying preventive maintenance efforts. This reflects a commitment to proactive intervention rather than merely responding to damage after it occurs. Public authorities aim to elevate the readiness of drainage networks nationwide, contributing to the protection of citizens and property and bolstering urban areas' ability to withstand exceptional autumn weather conditions.
