New Direct Algiers-Shanghai Flight Enhances Air Algérie’s Global Hub Role

Air Algérie has officially opened reservations for its new direct flight connecting Algiers' Houari Boumediene Airport with Shanghai Pudong International Airport. This development is part of the national carrier's modernization and international expansion strategy, with the first commercial flight scheduled for October 26, 2026. The new route establishes a direct link between the Algerian capital and the Chinese metropolis, underscoring Air Algérie's commitment to enhancing its global reach.
The airline will operate three weekly flights to Shanghai, deploying its latest generation Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. These planes are intended to provide high-end comfort for passengers and improved energy efficiency for the long-haul journeys. Flights from Algiers (AH3082) are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, departing at 13:00 and arriving in Shanghai the following day at 10:00 local time. Return flights from Shanghai (AH3083) will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 12:00, arriving in Algiers at 20:00 local time on the same day. Ticket prices start from 64,887 dinars for the Algiers-Shanghai leg and 63,040 dinars for the return.
The introduction of the Algiers-Shanghai route reinforces Air Algérie's strategic positioning as a connecting hub between Africa, Europe, and Asia. Shanghai now joins an established network in the Far East and Southeast Asia, which includes destinations such as Beijing, Guangzhou, and Kuala Lumpur. This expansion is part of a broader initiative, as Air Algérie is also preparing to launch a new service to Delhi, India, from October 25, 2026, also with three weekly rotations, further extending its international connectivity.
