Tarzout Goal Seals 2-1 Win for Algerian Youngsters in Italy

Algeria's U21 national football team has made a strong start at the Mediterranean Games 2026 in Italy, securing a 2-1 victory against Kosovo U21 in their opening match. The tournament, which commenced on August 22, 2026, saw the Algerian side demonstrate their competitive spirit early in the competition. The first goal for Algeria was scored by Benahmed Kohili, a player from MC Alger, in the 33rd minute.
The match saw an initial lead for the Algerian team, but a dip in performance during the second half allowed the Kosovar squad to equalize. The turning point came with the introduction of Houssem Tarzout, a promising talent from Paradou AC. Tarzout's dynamic play on the left flank revitalized Algeria's attack, culminating in him scoring the decisive goal in the final minutes of the game, securing the 2-1 win.
Under the guidance of coach Brahim Hemdani, the young Algerian squad is now preparing for their subsequent crucial fixtures. They are scheduled to face Italy on August 24, followed by a match against Albania on August 26. These upcoming games will be vital for their qualification prospects in the Mediterranean Games competition.
