The Algerian national Greco-Roman wrestling team has officially guaranteed at least two silver medals at the Mediterranean Games Tarente 2026. This achievement follows the successful qualification of two Algerian wrestlers, Fayçal Ben Ferj and Abdelkarim Fergat, to their respective final bouts in the prestigious international competition.
Abdelkarim Fergat secured his place in the 60 kg final after a notable victory in the semi-final. He overcame Moroccan wrestler Yassine Gharbi with a score of 3-1, demonstrating strong performance on the mat. Fergat is set to face Egyptian wrestler Mahmoud Faraj Mahmoud in the gold medal match.
In the 67 kg category, Fayçal Ben Ferj also advanced to the final round. He earned his spot by defeating Albanian wrestler Ardit Zenelaj with a score of 5-3 in his semi-final contest. Ben Ferj will now compete against Egyptian athlete Ahmed Hossam for the gold medal.
