Prime Minister Gharib Chairs Adoption of Anti-Gang, Digital Plans

The Algerian government, led by Prime Minister Seifi Gharib, convened on Thursday, September 17, 2026, to address several key national initiatives. During the session, the government formally adopted the National Strategy for the Prevention and Combat of Neighborhood Gangs for the period 2026-2029, a crucial step guided by presidential directives aimed at safeguarding Algerian families. Additionally, the meeting included a presentation focused on enhancing the National Digital Transformation Strategy, further advancing public services and administrative modernization.

Presented by the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, the anti-gang strategy establishes an integrated and multi-faceted approach. This comprehensive plan, rooted in Order No. 20-03 of August 31, 2020, combines prevention, deterrence, reintegration, and public awareness campaigns. Its primary objectives are to protect society, uphold public order, and ensure peace and tranquility for citizens. Following its adoption, a dedicated joint ministerial meeting is scheduled to endorse specific sectoral action plans, focusing on mobilizing necessary resources and establishing robust monitoring and performance measurement mechanisms for effective short- and medium-term implementation.

In parallel with security reforms, the government advanced its National Digital Transformation Strategy for 2025-2030. A key discussion revolved around expanding the utilization of the National Digital Services Portal and mandating the acceptance of digitally generated documents by various government administrations. This initiative aims to streamline administrative processes, reduce complexities, and improve the efficiency of public services for all Algerians, marking a significant step towards a modernized digital infrastructure.
