Algeria Secures Four Medals at the African Under-19 Badminton Championship

Dakar – Algeria concluded its participation in the African Under-19 Badminton Championship, held in Thiès, Senegal, from August 12-19, with a total of four medals: one silver and three bronze. Three of these medals were won in individual competitions, while the fourth was earned in the team events.

The silver medal was achieved by the duo Ayoub Rayan Daoud and Osama Kadou in the men’s doubles, after they lost in the final to the team of Lucas Doss and Aiden Yu Kiat Seo Yin Yong from Mauritius.

As for the bronze medals, one was won in the team event (men and women combined), while the other two were claimed by Yassine Laichi and Aymen Daoud in the men’s doubles and by Aymen Daoud in the men’s singles.

Several other participants reached the quarterfinals, including the pairs Manal Hamza and Riham Delloum (women’s doubles), Rayan Mazri and Ines Madi (mixed doubles), Aymen Daoud and Riham Delloum (mixed doubles), and Osama Kadou (men’s singles), as well as Ines Madi (women’s singles).

Unfortunately, other players exited the competition earlier, with Yassine Laichi (men’s singles), Amira Bouhrira (women’s singles), and Tinhinan Sheila (women’s singles) being eliminated in the round of 16.

The first days of the championship (August 12-14) were dedicated to team events, while the individual matches took place from August 16-19.

Algeria was represented at this continental event by ten athletes—five men and five women—including Ayoub Rayan Daoud, Osama Kadou, Rayan Mazri, Yassine Laichi, Aymen Daoud, Amira Bouhrira, Tinhinan Sheila, Manal Hamza, Ines Madi, and Riham Delloum, under the guidance of coaches Fateh Bataher and Omar Nouichi.
