Algeria’s National People’s Army (ANP) has delivered a powerful series of security operations across the country between May 6 and 12, 2026, dzwatch can reveal.
In counter-terrorism efforts, ANP units apprehended 11 individuals providing support to terrorist groups during separate operations nationwide.
In the fight against organized crime, joint ANP forces — coordinating with security services — arrested 56 drug traffickers and foiled attempts to smuggle 252 kg of cannabis resin across the Moroccan border, alongside 3.2 kg of cocaine and 1,473,878 psychotropic tablets.
Separately, ANP units detained 124 individuals involved in illegal gold prospecting, seizing 33 vehicles, 122 generators, 99 pneumatic hammers, and quantities of raw gold ore and mining equipment.
Further operations yielded the arrest of 12 additional suspects, the seizure of automatic weapons, hunting rifles, 60,275 liters of fuel, and 15 tons of food intended for smuggling.
Coast guard units also intercepted illegal migration attempts, rescuing 46 people from makeshift boats, while 251 undocumented migrants of various nationalities were detained across national territory.
