Niger Delegation Deepens Energy Cooperation Ties During Extended Visit to Sonatrach Facilities in Boumerdes

A high-level delegation of experts and engineers from Niger’s Ministry of Petroleum has continued its third consecutive day of visits to Boumerdes, exploring the technical capabilities and infrastructure of the Sonatrach complex as part of a working tour spanning May 9–18.

The visit follows a memorandum of understanding signed between Algeria and Niger to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise in the energy and hydrocarbons sector.

Director General of the Algerian Petroleum Institute, Mohamed Khoudja, told dzwatch that the institute, founded in 1965, ‘has acquired pioneering training experience and seeks through this visit to forge new agreements with Niger in gas and petroleum training fields,’ noting ‘a strong will from the Nigerien side to move forward.’

Director of Studies at the National Civil Engineering and Construction Company, Ben Wali Rabah, told dzwatch the firm is ‘ready to support Nigerien companies in infrastructure, hydrocarbons, gas, and major construction projects through bilateral expertise exchange.’

The delegation also toured the Algerian Petroleum Institute’s simulation and training center, reviewing cutting-edge exploration and production technologies before concluding with a working session with institute officials.
