Algeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Yassine Walid, has issued a direct call to foreign investors to seize opportunities in Algeria’s rapidly expanding agricultural sector, citing the government’s unwavering commitment to food security as its highest national priority.
Speaking exclusively to dzwatch at the inauguration of the 24th International Agricultural, Livestock and Food Industries Salon (SIBA), held at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Palace in Algiers from May 18–23, 2026, the minister highlighted that this edition recorded participation from over 800 exhibitors, both domestic and international.
The minister underscored landmark projects already delivering results on the ground, including the ‘Beldna’ dairy project with Qatar aimed at achieving national self-sufficiency in milk, alongside a major agricultural partnership with an Italian partner in southern Algeria.
He emphasized that Algeria’s legal framework and state-backed incentives make it one of the most attractive destinations for agribusiness investment in the region.
