Algerian Minister of Industry Yahia Bachir met on Monday in Algiers with Kenya’s Ambassador to Algeria, Kaluma Timothy Masharo, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Industry, the meeting, attended by senior ministry officials, focused on enhancing economic, trade, and industrial cooperation while exploring new opportunities for Algerian industrial products to enter the Kenyan market, which is considered a strategic gateway to East African markets.
The discussions also covered mechanisms to boost trade exchanges and strengthen communication between economic operators in both countries. These efforts aim to increase Algerian industrial exports and expand their presence across African markets as part of Algeria’s strategy to diversify exports beyond the hydrocarbon sector.
During the meeting, the minister emphasized that opening new African markets—particularly Kenya—to Algerian industrial products is part of the country’s broader initiative to improve the competitiveness of national industries and expand their reach across regional and continental markets.
