Thunderstorms Expected Across Several Algerian Provinces from Noon to Midnight

The National Office of Meteorology has warned of locally significant thunderstorms expected to affect several Algerian provinces starting from midday today and continuing until midnight.
According to a statement issued by the meteorological services, the expected rainfall may be accompanied by thunder activity in a number of regions across the country. The alert concerns several northern, central, eastern and southern provinces, where weather conditions are likely to become unstable during the afternoon and evening hours.
The provinces affected by this weather warning are Médéa, Bouira, Bordj Bou Arréridj, Sétif, Laghouat, Djelfa, M’Sila, Batna, Biskra, Ouled Djellal, Khenchela, Tébessa, Illizi, Djanet, Tamanrasset, In Salah and In Guezzam.
The National Office of Meteorology indicated that the rainfall could be locally heavy in some areas, which may lead to reduced visibility and difficult road conditions, especially during periods of intense showers. Residents in the concerned provinces are therefore advised to remain cautious, particularly when travelling or using roads that may be affected by water accumulation.
Thunderstorms during this period may also be accompanied by sudden changes in weather conditions, including strong gusts of wind in some places. Such conditions require vigilance from citizens, drivers and people working outdoors.
The warning comes as part of the regular weather updates issued by the meteorological services to inform citizens and local authorities about possible changes in weather patterns. These alerts help ensure better preparedness and reduce risks linked to heavy rainfall and storms.
Citizens in the concerned provinces are encouraged to follow official weather bulletins throughout the day and avoid unnecessary movement during severe weather episodes. Local authorities may also take preventive measures in areas that are more exposed to flooding or storm-related disruptions.
