Sonatrach and Sonidep Begin Joint Nigerien Oil Sales

Algeria's national oil company Sonatrach, in collaboration with Niger's Société Nationale Nigérienne du Pétrole (Sonidep), has successfully carried out the first joint commercialization of Nigerien crude oil. The inaugural cargo, identified as "Meleck" crude, was loaded on August 14, 2026, from the Sèmè oil terminal located in Benin.

This joint operation represents a significant step forward in the implementation of cooperation between the two national groups in the domain of hydrocarbon commercialization. The successful loading and subsequent joint marketing of the Nigerien crude underscore a deepening partnership between the companies.

The initiative aligns with directives from Algeria's high authorities, aimed at strengthening commercial relations with Niger. Sonatrach's communiqué highlighted this collaboration as a new stage in fostering economic ties and advancing energy sector cooperation between Algeria and Niger.
