France-Convicted Terrorist Denied Re-entry by Algeria

Algeria has officially refused the return of Tewffik Bouallag, an individual convicted in France for terrorism offenses. Bouallag, who fought for Daech in Syria between 2013 and 2014, was sentenced in France to thirteen years of criminal detention for association with a terrorist criminal enterprise. Despite holding Algerian nationality and expressing a desire to leave France, where he was born and also held French nationality, he remains blocked in a French administrative detention center after his release in April.
