Algiers Operation Seizes 86 kg Cocaine, Million Psychotropics

An international criminal network comprising six individuals has been dismantled in Algiers following a thorough investigation. The operation led to the significant seizure of over 86 kilograms of cocaine and more than one million psychotropic tablets, representing a substantial blow to illicit drug trafficking.
The specialized judicial center of Sidi M'hamed in Algiers announced the successful operation, which stemmed from an inquiry by the central judicial police. As a result, five of the six individuals implicated in the network have been placed in provisional detention by an investigating judge, with a sixth individual identified in connection with the case.
The individuals face judicial proceedings for a range of serious offenses, including the import, transport, possession, and illicit sale of drugs as part of an organized criminal gang. Further charges encompass grave smuggling that poses a threat to public health and security, as well as money laundering by an organized group. This action underscores the continuous efforts to combat organized crime and safeguard public well-being.
