Minister Saïoud Directs Enhanced Road Safety Measures

Algeria's Minister of Interior, Local Communities and Urban Planning, Saïd Saïoud, chaired a coordination meeting focused on the preparations for activating and utilizing speed measurement and driving time devices. The gathering, held at the Government Palace with ministry officials, underscored the nation's commitment to enhancing road safety.
During the meeting, Minister Saïoud issued several directives to expedite the preparatory phase. These instructions included accelerating the completion of various technical and organizational procedures and developing comprehensive proposals for the effective implementation of the new system. The objective is to ensure a robust deployment of these devices.
The activation of speed control and driving time monitoring in heavy and passenger transport vehicles is designed to significantly bolster the overall traffic safety system. This initiative seeks to contribute to a notable reduction in speed violations and the prevention of road accidents, aligning with the provisions stipulated in Article 85 of Law No. 26-09, which pertains to the traffic law.
