BNA, BEA Offer Bus Fleet Renewal Financing

The Banque Nationale d’Algérie (BNA) and the Banque Extérieure d’Algérie (BEA) have introduced initial financing offers to assist public transport operators in acquiring new buses. These mechanisms aim to support the national program for modernizing the country's public transport fleet, specifically targeting the replacement of vehicles that have been in operation for over 25 years. This initiative is expected to expand as the process of withdrawing older vehicles progresses.

Both BNA and BEA have unveiled dedicated offers, positioning the banking sector centrally in the modernization of collective transport. BNA announced the commencement of financing for transport professionals seeking to replace their older buses, with the program targeting the acquisition of up to 10,000 new vehicles. The bank's framework is open to both individuals and legal entities engaged in passenger transport, provided they meet the specified eligibility criteria and possess the necessary authorizations.

The BEA's offer specifies that it can finance up to 90% of the new vehicle's all-inclusive purchase price, requiring transport operators to contribute a minimum of 10% as a personal down payment. The interest rate is set at 5.5% annually, excluding taxes, on the utilized amount. Repayment is structured through quarterly installments, with a six-month deferral period before payments begin, and the first installment due in the ninth month. Early repayment options, both full and partial, are also available. To qualify for this financing, transport operators must obtain an eligibility certificate from the Ministry of Interior, Local Collectivities, and Transport, in addition to holding the required operating permits. Standard guarantees, such as a pledge on the financed bus and comprehensive insurance benefiting the bank, are also part of the arrangement, with individuals also requiring death and disability insurance.
